Justice David Oladimeji of the Federal High Court in Ede, Osun State has ordered the former Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Anthony Elujoba, be remanded in Ilesha Prisons after his bail application was dismissed Tuesday morning. Oladimeji is currently standing trial on a seven count charge for allegedly defrauding the institution of N1.4 billion while he was in office. He was arrested by EFCC operatives following a petition that he committed fraud while in office.

On July 7th, he was arraigned in court by EFCC and was later sent back to EFCC detention pending the hearing of his bail application which was yesterday. Meanwhile staff and students of the school have alleged that their former VC is being victimized by some political bigwigs.

They claim Anthony Elujoba committed no crime while he was in office. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, of the school had declared Monday and Tuesday lecture Free in solidarity with the former VC.

After the judge dismissed Anthony Elujoba bail application, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, NASU, locked down the court gate, demanding that the order by the judge be withdrawn.
