The 31-year-old striker is set to leave his loan spell at the San Siro for a similar arrangement at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea agreed a deal with Higuain’s parent club Juventus last week but Milan put the move on hold until sourcing a replacement.
The Rossoneri today agreed a £30.7m (€35m) fee with Genoa for hotshot Krzysztof Piatek so Higuain is expected to travel to London for a medical tomorrow.
And Milan goalkeeper Pepe Reina is sad to see his pal leave.
“I said goodbye to Higuain with an embrace, it’s always a bitter moment,” said Reina at a charity event in Milan.
“I wished him all the best and gave him a hug. Unfortunately, this too is football. I am losing a teammate, but retain a great friend.”
