Ross Barkley has completed his widely anticipated move from Everton to Chelsea, the reigning Premier League Champions announced on Friday.
The 24-year-old England midfielder has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract and will wear the number eight shirt.
Ross Barkley claimed he was “overwhelmed” to be handed an “unbelievable” chance to kickstart his career at Chelsea.
Barkley finally sealed a £15m move to Stamford Bridge yesterday after his proposed £35m summer deadline day switch from Everton collapsed at the 11th hour.
The midfielder, who was due to be a free agent in the summer, had been at Everton since the age of 11 but wanted to quit Goodison Park for a new challenge.
Barkley, who has signed a deal until 2023 and will wear the No8 shirt at Chelsea, said: “I’m overwhelmed, I’m looking forward to it and I’m really excited to get started.
“To be given a fresh start at a new club like Chelsea, it’s unbelievable for me. I’m looking forward to continuing where I left off at the end of last season and hoping to improve and add more goals to my game.”
Landing Barkley is a promising start to Blues boss Antonio Conte’s January window.
He said: “We are talking about a player with great potential. He is a complete player but at the same time he is very young and he has just started his career.
“He has this great opportunity to play in a great club with ambition and great targets and also to put himself in this new challenge.
