Chelsea have offered Thibaut Courtois a contract that will make him the highest-paid goalkeeper in world football, according to the Evening Standard.
Thibaut Courtois who has less than 18 months left to run on his current deal, had reportedly turned down Chelsea’s previous offer as it fell short of the £200,000 a week he had requested, but that figure has now been surpassed as the club look to tie their number one down to a long-term stay at Stamford Bridge.
There had been a suggestion that Atletico Madrid would make a move to bring Courtois back to the club where he won the La Liga title in 2014, with PSG potentially lining up a swoop to prise the Slovenia
Chelsea have made Courtois’ future their priority and have cooled interest in Stoke City shot-stopper Jack Butland.
Courtois has been a long-term target of Real Madrid but the Spaniards appear increasingly likely to sign Athletic Bilbao keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in January.
